Louisa Clark is working in a café for six years. However, owner of the café decides to close down the café and Louisa is now unemployed. She has to find a job immediately because her parents are not in a good shape financially. She applies to the Labor Exchange. She starts working a few jobs, but she cannot work for long because none of the jobs are for her. Lastly, she finds a job as a nurse and she goes for an interview. Camilla Traynor’s son Will, had an accident two years ago and he was left paralyzed. She is looking for a nurse for his son. Louisa is interviewed by Camilla Traynor and she is hired because of her lively and talkative personality.

Louisa is staying with her parents, sister and her sister’s 5-year-old son Thomas. She has a boyfriend for 6 years called Patrick. Her parents are not very happy with Louisa’s work, but her paycheck is higher than normal and is just for 6 months.

Louisa starts work and meets Will. There is another person beside Will called Nathan who helps him with medical care. Will does not talk to Lou in the beginning. Lou tries to talk to him, but her efforts are not met. Will is unhappy because he is paralyzed and needs someone for everything that he does. Lou’s job is more of making Will happy than to take care of him. Lou cannot succeed that in the first days and thinks about quitting. Will starts to warm up to Lou. He starts to laugh to her dressing style, behavior and thoughts. One day, Will’s ex-girlfriend Alicia and ex friend Rupert come. They tell him that they will get married. Will gets upset about it and he gets quiet for a while. Lou starts doing things that she never done before with Will. She never watched a movie with subtitles before, but she watches with Will and likes it. Lou takes Will to the hospital for his check-ups. One day, Will has a fever and Lou does not notice it. When Nathan comes, he gets angry with her and explains what she has to do. At night, because Camilla Traynor cannot come to the house, Lou stays the night with Will.

Although Will doesn't want to shave for a long time, Lou convinces him and cuts his hair and shaves it. That day Will's sister Georgina arrives. Lou hears Mrs. Traynor and Georgina's talk. He learns that Will had previously attempted suicide and that his father saved him. He realizes that his task is to prevent Will from committing suicide. He learns that Will doesn't want to live, that he wants to go to Dignitas to Switzerland to die. Euthanasia is legal in Dignitas. He made an agreement with his family and will go to Dignitas six months later. When Will learns these, he feels fooled. The next day he leaves a letter saying that he quit his job and why and goes home. When Ms. Traynor reads the letter, she goes to Lou's house and asks her not to quit the job and provide her with every opportunity she wants. Because he loves Will Lou and starts laughing with him. He starts doing things that he hadn't done before with Lou. Lou tells what happened to Treena. Treena does not want her to quit because she is considering starting college. He tells him that Will must do something to change his mind. Lou likes this idea and tells Ms. Traynor the next day. Although Mrs. Traynor does not want much, she agrees with her husband. Lou and Treena begin research. They try to find out where they can take Will. Treena starts college and moves out of the house.

Lou decides to take Will to a horse race, but this plan is a fiasco. They have many problems because of wheelchairs. They can't eat where they want, and Lou learns that Will doesn't like horses at all. Will receives an invitation from his friend for a classical music concert. Will learns that Lou doesn't like classical music, tells him that classical music is beautiful, and he should go to this concert. Lou also wants to go with Will. This time Lou takes all precautions and goes to the concert so that everything goes well. Lou loves classical music. During the concert, Lou and Will get closer. The concert adventure ends smoothly. He downloads a program to his computer so that Lou Will can write on his own. He will like Will very much and he will be able to write his own articles.

Will is also invited to Lou's birthday dinner. Lou's mother and father get along very well with Will. But when he sees Patrick Lou's affinity with Will, he gets angry and doesn't treat Will well.

Lou constantly starts taking Will out. He takes her around the castle, in the garden of the house. During their conversation, he learns that Will Lou hasn't gone anywhere outside of town. He tells him to visit other places. Lou says that after that he wants to go to the places where he wants to take Will and wants Will to come. Will gets sick and goes to the hospital. Lou in the meantime goes to the library and starts talking to the patients in Will's situation on the internet. She gets ideas about where she can take Will, what he likes. After Will leaves the hospital, Lou takes him to wine tasting. On the way back, Will learns that Lou always wants to get a tattoo, but doesn’t want to make her family angry. The two get tattoos together.

Lou's father is laid off and cannot find another job. Having learned this, Will talks to his father and Will's father hires Lou's father. Lou moves to Patrick because of the bed problem at home. Will doesn't like it at all. He tells Lou he can move there, but Lou doesn't want it. Lou and Will take a stroll around the castle, and Lou tells her about an incident. After this conversation, Lou and Will get sentimental. They talk for a while. Alicia and Rupert's wedding invitation comes. Will does not want to, but then decides to go to the wedding. Will and Louisa go to the wedding. They dance at the wedding. They drink and get drunk and stay in a hotel in the evening. They have a very fun day.

Lou plans a trip for Will. But she won't be able to go to Patrick's race for that. For this reason, Lou and Patrick argue and they break up. Lou moves in with Will. Lou tells Treena that she likes Will. Will becomes pneumonia. He is in the hospital for a long time. They cannot do the plan that Lou prepared. Lou prepares another plan with Nathan. There is little time left for six months to complete, and Lou needs to change Will's decision. Lou does all the preparations. Pre-sets everything to avoid problems. They go smoothly. They have a very fun holiday. Lou tries things she hasn't tried before and is happy. When she is happy, Will is also happy. Lou tells Will that she likes him. But Will does not want to be with her because he is disabled. He says he will go to Dignitas that his decision has not changed. Whatever Lou says, she can't change Will's decision. They return to town the next day. Lou leaves the job. When she comes home, she does not leave her room for a long time. Then she tells what happened to her family. She does not meet with Will.

Ms. Traynor calls Lou and asks her to come to Dignitas. Will wants to see her. Lou decides to go, but her mother is against it. Despite her mother, Lou goes to Switzerland. She talks to Will last. Will falls into a deep sleep with euthanasia at the clinic. Will left a letter to Lou, and Lou fits this letter and goes to Paris. Will also left her money to go to college and make a life for herself.
